My completed zoroark cosplay for Jafax 16! :3 Turned out amazing and just in the nick of time too, I finished it at 4am the night before of course XD Completely hand made by me. The eyes glow blue and it has a moving jaw. More pics to come! WIP can be seen here [link] Will also make an appearance at youmacon 2011.

Won 1st place journeyman craftsmanship at the masquerade ^_^

I love how you made the costume, must have taken a lot of material to build it. I would do mine wearing a green tux from the haunted mansion.

Just a question... how do you do the insides of ears, when it comes to the fabric? I fight with fabric any time I have to work with it, but for the life of me couldn't figure out how to sew or not sew or fill in the inner ear.

I had cut the red pattern and glued it into the groove where the inner ear is and then handstitched the grey perimeter to the attached red.  I think it would have worked the same with machine sewn if patterned properly and glued in.

I tried to semi do something similar the first go I had at making anything... too late I realized that I probably hadn't hollowed out the inner ear enough and, also had no idea how folks did stuff like inner ear tufts so, blew it there but in the future I'll have to figure out a better process. How did you stitch the grey and red together once the red was glued in? Did you leave some leeway to do so?
I'm a horrible sewer, be it with hand or machine ( though currently lack one).

I hand stitched using a Henson/puppet stitch. It's used for attaching pieces on the right side with a minimal seam appearance.

thanks! I have one more question: How much fabric did this take,  and where did you get it?

I buy my fabric at fabric.com and my local Joann's fabrics. I can't remember exactly how much but I think it is 2yards of fur and three yards minky

The hair is faux fur stuffed with 3 beach balls, two in the main body and one after the bead.  The spikes were attached separately and on top of the basic shape. It rather heavy, with just the weight of the fur alone, and is attached to a backpack underneath to support it. If you have more questions feel free to ask :)

the eyes look like they were drawn on but they have a realistic quality to them that I can't describe. The body looks really good. Must be hard to grab stuff with the hands.

Congratulations on 1st place.

Anyway I was thinking about a new kind of contest for cons. Sports events where there would be extra points if a tool or weapons from the show or game was used. For example if inuyasha pulls out tesiga for a sword fight he gets points.

You are from Michigan eh? I'm from WI

I have been toying with the idea of making a zoroark cosplay myself, as I've made a suit before. I've been seriously considering it. My friends tell me to go on and do it each time I talk about it.

You're probably busy and all, but if you have any pointers on how to make a few things easier (namely that crazy red hair) that would be awesome. I have some ideas on how I'd go about a few things myself.

I'd really like to go to cons with some buddies in it.

Check out the fursuiting livejournal if you are interested in mascot suit construction. The community is very helpful. The hair on my zoroark has three beach balls in it, so it is essentially hollow.

I know about the livejournal community, but livejournal is not my thing, and I also have enough experience where I don't need to consult them. I was just asking for specifics, but this does answer my question. Thanks much!

I'd figure the head was hollow with some sort of filling. I'd intended do do something similar, so it seems I'm on the right track.

I just bought a bunch of green foam 50% off at Jo Ann fabrics, so the project is actually a serious go. That stuff is expensive as it is, so I jumped on that opportunity. I'll be starting as soon as possible. I'm going to do it in my own style. So don't worry c: But I will say you're an inspiration. I've been toying with the idea for about two years, and seeing this made me really want to go through with it. So thanks, and thanks for getting back to me c:
